What is a guitar bridge?
Bridge. The bridge of the guitar supports the strings and transmits their vibration to the soundboard. Strings produce a very low sound on their own because they displace only a tiny volume of air as they vibrate.
How high should the bridge be on a Les Paul?
Pickup height setting is a little tricky but not a black art. Fender-y single coils have a stronger magnetic pull so need to be backed off, but most humbuckers share one bar magnet and aren’t so strong. So, set the bridge to about 3.5mm and see how it sounds.

my les paul action is pretty high as well, adn i still get buzz on the low e string. strange, maybe i need to adjust my truss rod or get a setup job. Yeah, I’d take it to a luthier/tech for a setup. You should be able to get your action just as low on a LP as on a Strat.
Why is a Les Paul bridge angle?
Les Paul bridge is normally slanted; that’s helps with intonation (see below). Action on bass side is usually a little higher than on treble side because bass strings are fatter. So that’s another normal slant. Some people reverse the bridge to give more room for intonation adjustment.
